Poems

text reads "poems" four times in different fonts. The text is on a purple shape that looks like a piece of paper. In front of this is a small glass container with ink and a turquoise feather pen. Around all of this is a smattering of gold sparkles.

They/Home

Performed at my online show in July 2026

I do not aspire to cis definitions of masculinity or femininity.

When I am with him/her or multiples of, I am something other, a mystic cryptid outside the reach of their binary comfort.

He/she (multiple) will not stray to understand me, so I am nothing, just a shell, encasing my soft inside.

I will not give him/her (multiple) the privilege of knowing me, as he/she (multiple) will not take the time to understand me.

Him/her (multiple)’s loss hurts me much more than it hurts him/her (multiple).

But when I am with queer folk, my shell is cracked and thrown away, for I no longer need to protect myself.

I am all encompassing, multitudes of beauty, in contradiction AND harmony at the same time.

There is no path for us to stray from, as we all have full reign of the infinite space around us.

We pour ourselves into every nook and cranny, rejoicing in the differences that make us all unique.

Not one of us has to explain ourselves to another.

It is in this place I have seen both masculinity and femininity celebrated, defined differently by every person.

It is in this place I first understood what it means to be a woman or a man, or both, or neither.

It is in this place I learnt there is paper outside the lines I was given, and I can colour there if I wish.

It is in this place I have found myself, in the spaces where the path does not go.

And it is in this place I chose to make my home.
